The War series is an FPS video game series created by Morningwood Studios. The series debuted with Russian War, focusing on a fictional 1980s Russian war with former Soviet states after the USSR's fall. The second game Imperial War focuses on a fictional Second American Civil War in 1980s USA. The third game World War: To End All Wars was set during World War I and focuses on the Central Powers. The fourth game Japanese War focuses on Japan and its conflict with North Korea; this was the first game in the series to introduce DLC expansions.
Later in 2008, Morningwood New York became the main developer of the War series, with Morningwood Studios remaining as a support studio to assist with technical-related tasks such as the engine used by the series. Morningwood New York produced Canadian War: Remnant which focuses on a fictional 2000s Canadian government after a recent civil war that left it severely weakened. The game had third DLC expansions, First Party Wars which continued the main story, followed by Coastal Confrontation that featured the Americans as enemies, and was followed by Canada's Fall, continuing the story from the previous expansion where Canada loses its war against America and its military superiority.
In 2010, both Morningwood Studios and Morningwood New York collaborated on World War II: Axis Rising and takes the series back to World War II with elements from To End All Wars included, such as characters and story. Later in 2012, Morningwood Arts released the World War Duology that bundled both of the World War games, with the first being a remaster and the second as a definitive edition. Both were developed by Nakamura Interactive.
