In the year of 1997, Morningwood Arts was founded by its first and now retired CEO Joseph Thomas and aimed to create video games for gamers around the world, and founded Morningwood Studios.
Morningwood Arts, and its subsidiaries, gained success in the video game industry through its two signature IPs, the Civil War series and War series. The former had its last major release in 2013 and the latter's last major release in 2012. However, the games still had technical support for their multiplayer components.
