The Civil War series is an RTS video game series created by Morningwood Studios. The series debuted with Civil War: America, which focused on the 1861-65 American Civil War. It was followed by Civil War II: 1939 set during World War II. The third game in the series was Civil War III: Canada, focusing on a fictional 1969-78 Canadian Civil War. The fourth game Civil War IV: Germany focused on a Post-WWII Germany eventually leading to civil war, and was the last game to be produced by Morningwood Studios.
Later in 2007, Morningwood Vancouver would take up the mantle of developing the Civil War games and produced Civil War V: Australia which was released alongside a remastered trilogy of the first three games in the series. Following V: Australia, Civil War VI: Japan would be released, which focused on a civil war in the Empire of Japan, an alternate history where Japan did not attack the US. Two years later, Civil War VII: Russia is released, accompanied by Civil War IV: Germany Remastered. Working together with Morningwood Industries, Morningwood Vancouver would announce the live service-centred Civil War Online, an online-only game with elements of an MMO. This would be the last game in the series.
