Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a 2024 Canadian/American animated action film directed and executive produced by Jesse Spade and written by Spade and Brian Bloom. Produced by Activision, Digic Pictures and distributed by Sony Pictures, the film is the sequel to the 2022 film Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The film features an ensemble cast including Barry Sloane, Elliot Knight, Neil Ellice, Samuel Roukin, Lars Mikkelsen, Gene Farber, Josh Hartnett, John David Washington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Bradley Cooper, Rya Kihlstedt and Stefan Kapičić. The film follows Task Force 141 dealing with a new threat and an old foe of John Price.

The film was released on December 20th, 2024. It is the sixth film directed by Jesse Spade and the fourth he had written, and his second collaboration with Brian Bloom. It is also Jesse Spade's second production with Sony Pictures, Digic Motion and Activision, that came to fruition after Spade expressed interest in directing and writing a Call of Duty film. The film is not an adaption of the 2023 video game of the same name and is considered standalone.

For digital purchases of the film on the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store, users will receive the "Vladimir Makarov: The First Horseman" operator bundle for use in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III video game.

Synopsis[]

Several weeks after killing Khaled Al-Asad who retreated to the United Republic of Adal, Task Force 141 are on the brink of yet another global threat in the form of an old adversary, Ultranationalist leader Vladimir Makarov, whom had framed the United States as perpetrators in the hijackings of three Russian airliners on December 3rd, 2022. This event quickly escalates into volatile tensions between the US and Russia, as Alena Vorshevsky, daughter to the Russian President, was onboard and killed during Makarov's hijackings. Task Force 141 mobilizes to uncover and reveal the truth before a war between the US and Russia breaks out and works with several contacts to find and locate Makarov before his influence ignites the warring cries of war from the Russian populace.
